''Eugene Oscar Fechet'' born 14 March 1846 in Port Huron, Michigan died 15 January 1925 was a United States Army officer who served in the American Civil War, Spanish American War and in the Egyptian Army.

Eugene was the son of Dr Alfred Edmond Féchet de Alary M.D. and Mary de Garmo Buel. Alfred Edmond Féchet de Alary had studied medicine and surgery at the medical school at Tours, received his degree from the University of France, then undertook a post graduate course from the University of Heidelberg. He was then commissioned a medical officer in the Armée d’Afrique in Algiers. He was exiled due to his being a supporter of the unsuccessful coup of Napoleon III and arrived in the United States in 1840.〔http://www.familytreelegends.com/records/13833?c=read&page=312〕 Due to his experience he was commissioned a United States Army Surgeon and was attached to a battery of the 4th Artillery Regiment fighting the Second Seminole War. Eugene was the brother of Lt Colonel Edmond Gustav Fechet (11 Jul 1844 – 16 Nov 1910)〔New-York Tribune, November 17, 1910〕 and uncle of Major General James Fechet. He was the father of Colonel Colonel d'Alary Fechet (1890–1965) West Point class of 1912. Eugene married Mary Emily Montgomery the daughter of Army officer Capt Thomas J Montgomery West Point class of 1845.〔http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=31432707〕
